Marjorie E. Howell, 85 of Brownstown, passed at 6:20 PM Friday, December 9, 2011 in the St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services are 11 AM Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the C & A Pagel Funeral Home, St. Elmo with burial to follow in Maplewood Cemetery, St. Elmo. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to the American Cancer Society or donors choice.
Marjorie was born on April 2, 1926 in Milmine, IL the daughter of James T. and Dollie B. (Blankenship) Carter. She married Andrew F. Howell on July 15, 1969 in Hot Springs, AR and he preceded her in death. She was a retired LPN. Marjorie had worked at St. Joseph Hospital and Rehab Center, Hot Springs, AR and Fayette County Hospital, Vandalia. She was affiliated with Park Place Baptist Church, Hot Springs, AR and enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables, and working in her yard.
Survivng are her son, John W. (wife, Nancy) Depew of Cowden, daughter; Stella Ward of Vandalia, 3 brothers; Jerry Carter of Dateland, AZ, Forest "Bud" (wife, Betty) Carter of Pamona, CA, Jack (wife, Maxine) Carter of Johnstown, CO, 9 grandchildren, several great and great great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents and 2 sisters; Mary Stokes and Marie Doty.
